The Next Show Is On: To be confirmed
The Autumn Show is a one day event for the clients of the riding school. It compromises of some of the many skills learnt at the riding school including grooming, washing, plaiting, tack cleaning, riding in walk, trot and canter as well as jumping.
The classes have a novice and intermediate part such as the dressage: there is a walk and trot dressage with no cantering for a fun and a less stressed experience and a more advanced dressage test canter for those who wish to display their handiness at cantering their chosen pony or horse.
It is a great goal for the rider to work towards in their lessons. Additionally, being a fun day out for the family, since the riders are at their best, in show gear and the horses in their glory; washed and platted.
The schedule of events is as follows:
9am Equitation Stakes and the BBQ, teas and cakes opens!!
10.30am Clear Round Jumping
11.30am Show Jumping 2’3’’
11am Walk and Trot Dressage in separate arena
1pm Walk, Trot and Canter Dressage
This year all riders will have a ten minuet specific time when they are to go in the ring for their dressage events. This is to reduce waiting time and allow those riders to sufficiently prepare.
£8 entry per class All classes for £28
Hire of a Horse/Pony £28
Classes will be split according to the ages of the riders
To take part you need to arrive before 9am to give your pony or horse a good clean and tack him or her up. Rachel, Sinead, Gemma and lots more helpers will be in the yard helping you and your friends with their ponies plus some very friendly parents
Ideally you can come the day or evening before to give your tack a good clean. Once your horse is all ready you can get changed into your shiny boots, clean jodhpurs or leggings, shirt, tie, jacket and gloves. Once you are all ready you can take yourself and your horse to the arena for 9am and mount.
When the judge calls your name they will have a quick chat about what you have been up to getting ready then all you have to do is show walk and trot on both reins, how you choose to do that is up to you. Many riders will do a figure of eight because it keeps your show fairly short and is a good short and sweet demonstration of the horses movement. Just plan a show which suits you and stick to it unless the judge actually tells you to do something else. Don’t worry what everyone else in the class does, changing your show at the last minute can cause confusion.
Dont forget to put some walk into it as well, you see so many people go straight into trot without showing how well their horse can walk.
Clear Round Jumping
This class is very small and is a good one to have some fun and blow off your nerves before your Show Jumping class!!! Good for those who are not doing much jumping in their lessons. The jumps will be a couple inches tall so go for it! If you do not circle away from the jumps and do not knock any you will receive a clear round Rosette. This class can be done more than once if you want to, as its main purpose is to get you ready for a clear round.
Walk and Trot Dressage
> This class is all the content of your lessons in a test: A route around the arena that is fun and a bit tricky with turns, transitions, 10 meter circles, 5 meter loops and free walk on a long rein! The adults will have some medium trot and serpentines to make it particularity stimulating. This year all riders will have a ten minuet specific time when they are to go in the ring for their dressage events. This is to reduce waiting time and allow those riders to sufficiently prepare.
2 foot 3 inches Show Jumping
This class is going to be great with lovely fillers, poles, turns and spreads. You should be warmed up from the clear round and ready to go for it!
Walk, Trot and Canter Dressage
A interesting test has been chosen this year, master it and you will really get a terrific buzz. With a lot of canter in it you will have to show a 15m circle, medium canter, a 10m half circle and counter canter on both reins. Dressage scoring means that if you have a couple tricky bits, no worries, you actually only miss out on a couple marks overall! The trot work involved is 10m circles and medium trot on both reins...and a free walk for a chill out. This class will be the last of the day and you can have it read by your friend or instructor. This year all riders will have a ten minuet specific time when they are to go in the ring for their dressage events. This is to reduce waiting time and allow those riders to sufficiently prepare.
We have show jackets that can be rented for the day and all that is needed is a shirt, bright tie, light coloured jodhpurs/leggings, gloves and some shiny shiny boots! The dress code is much more relaxed for the Dressage and Jumping than the Equitation Stakes. The focus is on the riders having fun and so the judging is done positively, the aim of the day is to build confidence. We everyone doing the Dressage will receive a sheet with their comments and scores for each movement for them to keep, as well as a rosette if they are in the top 8of their section.
There is a BBQ running all day with hot food, cakes, teas and coffees and so bring your relatives and friends to support you on the day.
